Our safari covers the entire island, journeying from the South to the North and back again. We’ll explore diverse terrains, from the serene plains and golden beaches on the eastern side to the rugged, mountainous western coast with its steep cliffs. Our adventure includes both on and off-road driving, done carefully and considerately. Guests will be picked up from our office in Kalamaki at a pre-arranged time and taken to our starting point near Laganas. Here, we’ll cover safety procedures and provide a brief overview of the day’s itinerary before setting off.
Our first stop is at the historic Venetian church tower in the picturesque mountain village of Kikomenos. Venturing off-road, we will visit Loucha and Giri, the island’s smallest village with just 20 residents. Around 10 a.m., we will take a short coffee break here. We then proceed to Vrachiona, the island’s highest point at 1000m, offering panoramic views of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, and the distant Greek mainland.
Continuing north, we visit the cross of Kampi and learn about its history while enjoying the stunning rugged coastline. At 12:30, you can either enjoy a packed lunch or savor Greek cuisine at special prices for our guests. After lunch, we drive through Exo Chora to see the island’s oldest olive tree in Monies and then head to the quaint village of Anafonitria. Just outside Anafonitria, we will have a short stop for wine tasting and viewing local products like rugs, lace, honey, and wine. We then visit the world-famous Shipwreck, offering breathtaking views of the deep blue Ionian Sea.
Our next stop is swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Makris Gialos and taking photos at the natural sulfur spring of Xigia for about 30 to 40 minutes. We then head to the naturally collected salt pans of Alykes. By the end of the tour around 4 p.m., we will have passed through the villages of Alykanas, Amoudi, Gerakari, and Kalipado, viewing the extensive olive and lemon groves, vineyards, and plains of picturesque Zakynthos. Throughout the day, our drivers and guides will share Zakynthian history and local stories.
